Jason Thurston

Stewardship Pastor

Jason serves as the Stewardship Pastor at FBC Kaufman, where he provides leadership and oversight for the church’s finances, business operations, administration, and facilities. He also leads the parking and safety teams, property development, and service teams. If there’s a major event happening on campus, you’ll likely find him with the grill team—serving as the “official” taste tester and quality control guy.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hardin-Simmons University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He joined the staff in 2013 after Pastor Brent invited his family to consider making Kaufman their new home. Jason and his wife Alicia had once been students in Brent and Julie’s youth ministry in Gainesville, and now they get to serve together in the church that shaped their story. He’s passionate about helping people find their place and purpose within the church—believing that when we steward our time, talents, and resources together, we get to watch God do something powerful in our community. Jason also loves creating meaningful spaces across our 43-acre campus where people can worship, gather, and grow in their faith.

Outside of work, Jason enjoys fishing on local lakes, camping, grilling, and playing games with family. He and Alicia have been married for 26 years. Together, they have two grown children: Ethan, a firefighter/paramedic married to Mady, a nurse; and Madi, a college senior and cross-country runner studying biology at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith.
