Discipleship Pastor

John Michael serves as the Discipleship Pastor at FBC Kaufman, where he helps people deepen their walk with God and grow in community. He oversees our LifeGroups, Bible study groups, marriage ministry, parent classes, internship and residency programs, and stewardship resources. His heart is to see people transformed—becoming more like Jesus in their thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Corporate Communications from the University of Texas and is currently completing his Master of Divinity at Southern Seminary, set to graduate in Spring 2026. John Michael and his family joined FBC Kaufman in the summer of 2020 and he has served on staff since then. He is passionate about walking with people as they experience real life change—whether it's healing in marriages, finding biblical community, or discovering new joy in generosity and spiritual growth.

Outside of ministry, John Michael enjoys going to the gym, hiking, reading fiction, and playing drums or a competitive game of ping pong or Super Smash Bros. He’s been married to his wife Deb for eight years, and they’re raising two amazing kids—James and Bri—who keep life fun, loud, and full of purpose.
