FBCWellness is partnering with Dallas Baptist University to launch our Life and Learning Academy. While these classes aren’t for academic credit, they will be challenging enough to keep your brain fit and working its best as you pick up new life skills or insights. We’ll offer our first set of Life and Learning classes in 2024. Learning new things is fun and one of the best ways to stay sharp as we age. People who are 50 and over especially need to keep learning in order to push back against cognitive decline. Our Life and Learning Academy seeks to address this health issue and give you another opportunity to invite someone new to come to our church campus. Participants must be 18 years or older.

Our academic year will run in five sessions:

  • January to Spring Break

  • Spring Break to Memorial Day

  • Summer

  • August to Fall Break

  • Fall Break to Christmas

We expect to offer different classes each session. These classes are open to anyone in the church and will cost $50 each. We will be bringing teachers and professors from around the county and across the metroplex to teach these courses and the tuition fee will go to pay them something for their efforts. Each class will need at least 10 participants to make. There are hundreds of topics we would like to teach and we think you would enjoy taking but we are starting slow with two classes this first session.

In partnership with Dallas Baptist University, Dr. Jennifer Fast, licensed clinical psychologist and the clinical director of a group practice, Stanford Couples Counseling, will guide participants to dive into each of the areas and help to create a plan to focus on improving wellbeing in each of the 4 pillars.
